A post graduate in sociology, this resident of Chola Nagar in Hebbala was a school teacher before becoming a social activist. He has worked for consumer and citizen's rights and campaigned on environmental problems and for the rights of small farmers,
landless labourers and beedi workers. In the process he got involved with the issues of transparent governance, people's right to information, seed bill, water policy, electoral reforms, etc. He has been actively participating in a Solid Waste Management project in his neighbourhood and the Right to Food campaign in Karnataka for the last 14 months.
